A Data Factory to centralize and unlock the value of Data
The European Space Agency (ESA) manages hundreds of terabytes of data, covering both operational missions and support functions. To better govern and leverage this data estate, the ESA created its Data Factory, a strategic initiative designed to modernize real-time data-driven management.
Its role is to provide both internal and external teams with immediate and reliable access to consolidated data, ensuring consistency and a single source of truth, while enabling the creation of high-impact use cases.
One of the Data Factory’s major challenges was ensuring end-to-end governance of sensitive data originating from numerous heterogeneous sources and dependent on specific decision-makers across the organization.
Real-time processing represented another major challenge: the objective was to rely on dashboards and reports updated in real time in order to optimize decision-making. This means that every data visualization must refresh within just a few seconds.
These two key challenges led the ESA’s Data Factory to choose Suadeo as its data platform across the entire internal operational and functional scope. This includes business management data and strategic KPIs, cross-functional data, HR, logistics, IT, and automated data flows with partners and suppliers.
