Crisis Management Platform: the Interior Ministry’s Olympic legacy

Designed to support the smooth running of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Ministry of the Interior’s Situational platform demonstrated its value far beyond the event itself. The Ministry’s Directorate for Digital Transformation shares its experience with IT For Business magazine. A look back at this system developed with Suadeo, which has become a long-term information system for crisis management.

Designed and deployed in just 18 months for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the platform was intended to aggregate, coordinate and deliver, almost in real time, information reported by ministries, prefectures and the various services mobilized during the Games.

Objective: to provide decision-makers with a consolidated view of the situation. (Discover the experience shared by Colonel Deshayes, Chief of Staff of the National Strategic Command Center).

From the Olympics to Interministerial Crisis Management

In an interview with IT For Business, Julien Anthonioz-Blanc, Director of Cross-Functional Programs at the Ministry of the Interior’s Directorate for Digital Transformation (DTNum), looks back at this system, which has been made permanent for interministerial crisis management.

From the moment France submitted its bid for the 2024 Games, there was this notion of “legacy.” That word was never lost. Even today, for us, it is legacy, legacy, legacy. The crisis management platform is a legacy of the Olympic Games.

Its project ownership has since been transferred to the Directorate General for Civil Protection and Crisis Management (DGSCGC), with new challenges arising from the unpredictable nature of crises.
